YallaPunk is an organization that celebrates the creative accomplishments of SWANA individuals and serves as an accountable and inclusive space for discourse on social issues.

Though YallaPunk has programming throughout the year, the main event is a weekend-long festival that celebrates music, art, film, poetry, and comedy. I designed their initial site in its first year, working with a team of front-end and full-stack developers, built on a custom backend made specifically for music festivals.

It was important for the organizers to update frequently with news and schedule or programming changes. For the user, it was important to easily access clear logistical information. I settled on a one-page site where the top-level information would answer who, what, when, and where. Subpages would elaborate more on each topic.

Since this site would be CMS-driven, information is organized in entries. Based on that I designed the site to be as modular as possible with flexibility for the organizers to display information as needed. Each entry is labeled with date and time, and tags to further filter the information. For example, the organizer could display all entries tagged with “programming” as a page, or a single entry like “about” as its own page.
